An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Engineer to join a forward-thinking manufacturing business at a pivotal stage of growth. This role sits within a new and expanding polyurethane moulding operation, supporting both R&D and volume production across multiple sectors including aviation, automotive, mass-transit and specialist consumer products. You will play a hands-on role in running moulding machinery and trimming operations, while also shaping and validating robust polyurethane processes from the ground up.
The Role
- Develop, maintain and validate repeatable polyurethane moulding processes
- Set up, optimise and troubleshoot moulding equipment and process parameters
- Investigate and resolve production defects such as voids, porosity, flash and density variation
- Support new product introductions, including mould commissioning and material trials
- Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions and technical documentation
- Ensure compliance with relevant quality, safety and regulatory standards
- Work closely with engineering, operations, R&D and commercial teams
- Assist with training and development of production operatives as the facility scales
About You
- Degree-qualified in Engineering or similar (or equivalent industry experience)
- Background in polyurethane, polymers or a comparable manufacturing environment
- Experience with chemical formulation and machinery/process management
- Strong knowledge of RCA, CAPA and DOE methodologies
- Basic understanding of CAD / CAE
- Methodical, organised and comfortable managing projects and deadlines
- Confident communicator who enjoys cross-functional collaboration
- Detail-focused with a natural problem-solving mindset
