We are seeking to appoint a Senior Financial Governance Manager, reporting to the CFO. This is a high-profile leadership role with responsibility for strengthening financial governance and control frameworks across a complex organisation, while supporting executive decision-making at the highest level. In this role, you will enhance internal controls, strengthen risk management, and ensure the organisation maintains the highest standards of compliance, transparency, and accountability. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, with direct influence on strategic and operational decisions. The position offers broad exposure across governance, audit, pensions, and risk, with regular engagement across senior stakeholders and external assurance partners. It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to make a meaningful impact within a large, purpose-driven organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert financial governance advice, assurance, and insight to senior leadership and the CFO
  • Strengthen and continuously improve internal control frameworks, governance structures, and risk management processes
  • Lead on fraud prevention, anti-bribery compliance, and oversight of investigations and reporting
  • Act as Secretary to the Audit & Risk Committee, coordinating agendas, papers, and governance reporting
  • Manage the relationship with internal audit and ensure timely delivery of audit recommendations
  • Oversee pensions governance, administration, and regulatory compliance, liaising with external advisors
  • Deliver financial insight and performance analysis to support executive decision-making
  • Lead, develop, and support a high-performing financial governance team while managing key stakeholder relationships
Criteria:
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in financial governance, risk, or compliance
  • Strong background in internal controls, risk management, and fraud prevention
  • Proven ability to influence and communicate effectively at senior leadership level
  • Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and excellent organisational skills
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including team management and development
  • Experience within a regulated or public sector environment is highly desirable; pensions governance experience would be an advantage
