A well-established, locally owned professional services firm is seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to lead its finance function. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring strong financial management, delivering accurate reporting, and providing strategic direction to senior management. As Financial Controller, you will oversee all financial operations, maintain financial integrity, and support the firm's continued growth and profitability. You will work closely with senior leadership to drive effective financial planning and ensure best-practice financial processes across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Accounts Team to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records across all accounting functions.
- Liaise with auditors, financial institutions, advisers, and regulatory bodies.
- Manage interest on client funds and oversee loans and overdrafts in line with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor financial performance and cost-effectiveness to ensure value for money.
- Support the development and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and cashflow projections.
- Produce accurate monthly and quarterly management accounts, including departmental profitability analysis.
- Oversee statutory returns, VAT submissions, and regulatory audits, ensuring timely and compliant reporting.
- Prepare annual consolidated profit & loss accounts and tax returns for all relevant entities.
- Lead improvements to finance and data systems to enhance efficiency.
- Work with senior finance staff to refine team procedures and internal controls.
- Support cross-departmental coordination to ensure strong financial governance.
The Person:
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller, including management of a finance team.
- Strong knowledge of financial systems and tools that improve finance operations.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work independently under pressure.
