An established and ambitious commercial law practice in Belfast is seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Solicitor to join its growing Dispute Resolution team. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven litigator who enjoys handling complex commercial disputes and wants to take ownership of their own caseload, while also helping to develop and mentor junior colleagues.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality legal advice and representation to a diverse client base, including companies, business owners, and professionals across Northern Ireland and beyond.
In this role you will:
- Take responsibility for managing a caseload of commercial disputes, ideally including High Court-level litigation.
- Conduct all phases of litigation (case inception, strategy, document review, pleadings, disclosure, hearings, enforcement) with minimal supervision.
- Lead and drive cases through the High Court (and associated court systems) from instructing to resolution.
- Act as a mentor and supervisor to more junior members of the team.
- Provide guidance, training and support to juniors in relation to case progression, drafting and court experience.
- Work closely with partners, providing regular updates, proactively identifying issues, setting strategy and ensuring excellent client service.
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
- Demonstrable experience of litigation in the High Court handling commercial or corporate disputes.
- Proven ability to manage cases independently - formulating strategy, delivering pleadings, managing disclosure, advancing hearings, advising on enforcement.
- Strong supervisory or coaching experience: comfortable supervising junior lawyers and contributing to their professional development.
- Excellent advocacy, drafting and negotiation skills, coupled with strategic legal thinking.
- A commercial mindset, with the ability to align legal strategy to business objectives and client needs.
- The ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, deliver results and maintain strong client relationships.
- Admitted to the roll of solicitors in Northern Ireland (or eligible for admission) and comfortable working in Belfast city centre.
