Junior Investment Analyst

Location: Horsham, West Sussex

Salary: Β£25,000 – Β£30,000 per annum

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (35 hours per week)

Working Pattern: Office-based initially, with hybrid working available following successful completion of a 3-month probationary period.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Investment Analyst to join a growing Investment Management team based in Horsham.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or an individual in the early stages of their investment career who has a genuine passion for financial markets and investments.

You may already have some experience within an investment, financial services or wealth management environment, or this could be your first or second role following university. The successful candidate will receive support and development opportunities to build their technical investment knowledge and progress their career.

Working closely with experienced Investment Analysts and senior members of the Investment Management team, you will gain exposure to fund research, investment analysis, model portfolios, platforms, market developments and investment products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Investment Management team with investment and fund research.
  • Research and analyse funds to support the development and ongoing review of model portfolios.
  • Assist with analysis across a range of investment products, including:
  • OEICs and Unit Trusts
  • Investment Trusts
  • ETFs
  • Model Portfolios and DFM solutions
  • Life Assurance Companies
  • Life and Pension Funds
  • Investment Platforms
  • Assist with performance analysis and interpretation of investment data.
  • Support the preparation of investment research reports and presentations.
  • Contribute to market commentary and performance analysis.
  • Keep up to date with financial markets, economic developments, investment products and industry news.
  • Monitor financial news and provide relevant updates to the Investment Management team.
  • Assist with the ongoing administration and monitoring of model portfolio solutions.
  • Undertake research and analysis of funds outside the core investment strategy where required.
  • Maintain accurate investment research, records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with investment platform administration relating to MPS and DFM solutions.
  • Support the preparation of information for Investment Committee meetings.
  • Assist with quarterly updates and investment data analysis using relevant financial research systems.
  • Respond to and assist with investment-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the wider team to ensure high standards of service, accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to projects and initiatives across the wider business as required.

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about investments and keen to develop a career within Investment Management.

You may be a recent graduate looking to take your first step into the industry, or have approximately 1 year of experience within investment analysis, financial services, wealth management or a similar environment.

You will ideally have:

  • A genuine interest in investments and financial markets.
  • Some knowledge or experience of investment research or analysis.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good Excel skills and confidence using Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to interpret investment performance data and present information clearly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A methodical and organised approach to work.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.
  • A flexible and proactive approach.
  • A willingness to learn, develop and take on new responsibilities.
  • A customer-focused approach and professional communication style.

Qualifications

  • IMC qualification would be advantageous.
  • Alternatively, a willingness to work towards the IMC or another relevant investment qualification would be welcomed.
  • A degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business or a related subject would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Candidates with relevant investment or financial services experience will also be considered.
