Were delighted to be recruiting for a SHEQ Adviser on behalf of a growing commercial construction firm. As SHEQ Adviser, youll give practical advice, support and assurance to their projects and operations, helping to hold high standards in safety, health, environment and quality. Youll play a key part in maintaining and improving their Integrated Management System (IMS) and in keeping them compliant with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Youll work alongside Contracts, Project and Site Managers, subcontractors and senior leadership to make sure SHEQ requirements are applied on live projects and that continuous improvement is part of how they work. What Youll Do Health & Safety Carry out regular inspections, audits and compliance reviews on live sites Give clear, practical H&S guidance to project and site teams Review RAMS, construction phase plans and other project documents, and advise on them Check compliance with company procedures and UK and ROI health and safety legislation Spot hazards, unsafe practices and non-compliance, and make sure corrective actions are carried out Support investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences, and help put corrective and preventative actions in place Help deliver inductions, toolbox talks, briefings and SHEQ training Monitor welfare facilities, housekeeping and general site safety Encourage proactive hazard identification and risk management Management Systems & ISO Help maintain the Integrated Management System and ongoing ISO and 45001 compliance Plan and carry out internal audits against ISO and company requirements Support preparation for external certification and surveillance audits Manage and monitor corrective actions from internal and external audits Maintain controlled SHEQ documents, policies, procedures and records, and the legal and other requirements register Support management reviews with SHEQ performance data and trend analysis Make sure lessons learned feed back into processes and procedures Environmental Support delivery of environmental objectives and ISO 14001 requirements Monitor environmental performance and carry out inspections and audits Track waste management, recycling and resource efficiency Check that controls are in place for dust, noise, pollution, hazardous substances and other environmental risks Quality Support monitoring of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System Carry out project quality audits and inspections Help identify, record and close out non-conformances, including root-cause analysis and corrective and preventative actions Promote a right-first-time approach and work with project teams and subcontractors to raise standards Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives Site & Project Assurance Inspect and audit live commercial construction projects regularly Write clear reports that recognise good practice and set out required improvements Track actions through to completion Help project teams meet client-specific SHEQ requirements Attend project meetings as needed to provide SHEQ guidance What Were Looking For Essential 1-2 years experience in a SHEQ or HSEQ role in construction or a related industry Strong working knowledge of UK construction health and safety requirements Hands-on experience of site inspections and audits Experience reviewing RAMS and construction risk assessments Experience working with ISO management systems, and a good understanding of ISO and 45001 Experience carrying out or supporting internal audits Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to influence and constructively challenge project teams and subcontractors Excellent organisation and administration, and the ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities Contact Nicky Strutt TPBN1_NI
