We are delighted to be partnering with an established and growing accountancy practice to recruit a Payroll Assistant for their team.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity within a friendly accountancy practice, where youโ€™ll take responsibility for managing payroll across the office while also supporting with bookkeeping and bank reconciliations. Payroll will be the primary focus of the role, with the bookkeeping element providing additional variety and exposure across the wider practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and process payroll for a portfolio of clients on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time, including PAYE, NIC and statutory requirements
  • Deal with payroll queries from clients and provide support where required
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation
  • Complete bookkeeping duties for a range of clients
  • Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
  • Assist with general accounts administration and transactional finance duties

Who Weโ€™re Looking For

  • Previous experience processing payroll within an accountancy practice or similar environment
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE and NIC
  • Experience using payroll and accounting software such as Sage, BrightPay, Xero or similar
  • Previous bookkeeping and bank reconciliation experience
  • Ability to manage multiple payrolls and meet strict deadlines
  • Practice experience would be highly desirable
