An established and rapidly growing UK & Ireland business is seeking an ambitious Financial Controller to join its senior leadership team during an exciting phase of expansion. This is a pivotal appointment and a rare opportunity for an experienced finance professional to build and lead an in-house finance function from the ground up within a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. The successful candidate will initially join as Financial Controller, with clear progression opportunities into a Finance Director position as the business continues to scale.
Working closely with the founders and leadership team, you will take ownership of financial operations, reporting, commercial insight, and strategic financial leadership while helping shape the next phase of business growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the transition from outsourced finance to a fully integrated in-house finance function
- Develop scalable financial processes, controls, reporting frameworks, and KPIs
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, cashflow, management accounts, and financial analysis
- Provide commercial insight to support profitability, operational performance, and strategic decision-making
- Oversee project cost tracking, WIP, contract valuations, retention management, and margin reporting
- Ensure strong financial governance, audit readiness, statutory compliance, and risk management
- Partner with operational teams to improve financial visibility and commercial performance
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, insurers, banking partners, and future funding stakeholders
- Evaluate and implement finance systems, reporting automation, and operational improvements
- Build and develop the finance function and future finance team as the business grows
About You
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
- Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on
- Experienced in growing or transforming finance functions
- Commercially astute with strong business partnering capability
- Confident working directly with founders and senior stakeholders
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
