We are delighted to be partnering with a growing and well-established property investment and development business to recruit a Finance Assistant for their finance team based in Cookstown. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and collaborative finance function supporting a diverse portfolio of property and development companies across the group. Reporting directly to a Finance Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in providing bookkeeping support, preparing year-end accounts, and assisting with wider financial reporting requirements. This opportunity would suit an ambitious finance professional looking to further develop their career within a stable and expanding organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of annual accounts for small and medium-sized companies, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and deadlines
  • Support audit preparation and respond to audit queries
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns
  • Submit statutory accounts to Companies House
  • Complete cash book postings and maintain accurate records
  • Carry out monthly bank reconciliations
  • Manage the sales ledger, including debtor statement reconciliations
  • Liaise with external agents and stakeholders as required
  • Provide general finance support and assist with ad hoc duties as needed

Who We're Looking For

  • Qualified or part-qualified Accounts Technician (AAT or IATI)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience within a busy finance environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Quick to adapt to different accounting systems and processes
  • Experience with Sage Accounts Production and Bright software would be advantageous
