Artemis Human Capital are delighted to be recruiting for a Procurement Manager on behalf of a well-established FMCG business operating in the fresh produce sector. This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who has come up through FMCG fresh produce procurement and understands the pressures of a fast-moving, seasonal, perishable-goods environment. You'll take full ownership of the category, from grower relationships and budgets through to cold storage and seasonal planning.
The Role
- Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the end-to-end procurement of a core fresh produce category, including:
- Profitably sourcing and procuring product to meet volume requirements and budget targets
- Managing settlements and agreed budgets (volume and price)
- Overseeing cold storage deals and cold store utilisation
- Forecasting and planning requirements against sales forecasts
- Managing seasonal peaks (Christmas, summer, etc.)
- Participating in grower reviews and supporting grower development alongside the Agronomy team
- Representing Procurement in senior meetings and contributing to company strategy
- Providing accurate, up-to-date reporting on market conditions, costs, and performance
Leadership & People Management
- Full accountability for the performance and efficiency of the procurement department
- Setting KPIs and SMART targets, and reviewing performance against them
- Managing, developing, and supporting your team, including training, appraisals, and day-to-day people management
- Contributing to workforce planning and recruitment alongside HR
Health, Safety & Quality
- Ensuring procurement activities meet food safety, food hygiene, and health & safety standards
- Understanding product and customer specifications to maintain quality throughout the supply chain
- Supporting a safe, well-maintained working environment
