The Role
This is a standalone, highly autonomous position combining responsibility for New Product Development (NPD) and Technical/Quality management. You'll coordinate product development projects from concept through to launch, while ensuring the highest standards of food safety, compliance, and quality are maintained. The role is supported by external specialists for trials and testing, allowing you to focus on project leadership, system ownership, and cross-functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities
NPD
- Lead product development from concept to launch
- Work with customers and commercial teams on new products
- Develop recipes and coordinate factory trials
- Manage timelines, costing, and supplier sourcing
- Identify innovation and market opportunities
Technical & Quality
- Own HACCP, TACCP, VACCP systems
- Maintain BRC/SALSA standards and audit readiness
- Manage audits, complaints, and non-conformances
- Oversee allergens, traceability, and recalls
- Ensure compliance with UK labelling and regulations
Supplier & Customer
- Manage supplier approval and performance
- Act as key technical contact for customers
- Support audits, tenders, and specifications
Collaboration
- Support operations and commercial teams
- Deliver food safety/GMP training
- Liaise with regulators and external bodies
About You
- 23+ years in food technical or NPD role
- Experience in BRC or similar environment
- Strong knowledge of HACCP and UK food labelling
- Experience with product development and audits
- Confident communicator with a hands-on approach
- Commercially aware and detail-focused
