Strategic Adviser / Advisory Board Member (Private business Health & Social Care) We are supporting a privately backed health and social care business in Northern Ireland as it enters an important phase of growth and development. The Board is seeking to appoint an experienced Strategic Adviser / Advisory Board Member who can bring a deep understanding of the Northern Ireland health and social care market, together with strong commercial judgement and senior-level relationships across the sector. This is not an operational role. Working alongside the Board and investor group, the successful individual will provide independent market insight, strategic perspective and constructive challenge as the business considers how best to grow, develop its services and build long-term value. A key part of the role will be helping the Board understand the commercial realities of the Northern Ireland HSC environment how services are commissioned, where funding sits, who influences decisions, how pricing is determined and what is required to build commercially sustainable services. The role The successful individual will provide insight, challenge and strategic support across areas including: Supporting and advising the CEO as they lead the business through its next phase of growth and development. Acting as a sounding board to the CEO on key strategic, commercial and market decisions. How the Health and Social Care Trusts and wider commissioning system operate in practice. Where future opportunities for growth and service development are likely to emerge. The factors that influence pricing, funding, margins and service sustainability. Understanding where the money flows, who controls budgets and what enables providers to secure sustainable funding. How a private provider can position itself effectively with key stakeholders and decision-makers. Using established relationships and networks to strengthen the organisations position within the NI health and social care market. Advising on the opportunities and challenges associated with scaling a health and social care business while maintaining quality and commercial discipline. The individual We are looking for someone who has operated at a senior executive, commercial, financial or strategic level within health and social care and who has a strong understanding of the Northern Ireland market. This could include a former CEO, CFO/Finance Director, Commercial Director or senior executive from a substantial healthcare or social care organisation, or an individual who has held a senior role within the HSC system with significant exposure to commissioning, funding or provider relationships. You will ideally combine: Deep knowledge of the NI health and social care market Strong understanding of commissioning, pricing and funding Established relationships with senior stakeholders across the HSC system A strong commercial and strategic mindset Experience of growth, scaling or business development An understanding of the economics of delivering sustainable care services The confidence and credibility to provide constructive challenge at Board level The ability to translate changes in policy, commissioning or funding into practical commercial implications Experience within adult social care, learning disability, supported living or related services would be particularly relevant. We would also consider individuals with broader senior healthcare or HSC experience where they can demonstrate a strong understanding of the independent provider market.
