About the Role

An established and expanding manufacturing business in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex is seeking a Toolmaker to join their team. This is a precision toolmaking role, but for the right engineer there is also the opportunity to support the improvement of manufacturing processes and contribute to efficiency initiatives. You will work in a dynamic, hands-on environment where accuracy, technical understanding and collaboration are key.

Full-time, 40 hours per week, on rotational shifts (6am to 2pm, 8am to 4pm, and 2pm to 10pm).

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out tool-making, repair and maintenance tasks to support efficient production and minimise downtime
  • Produce work to pre-determined specifications and tolerances, ensuring high levels of accuracy and consistency
  • Interpret and apply technical drawings and documentation accurately
  • Support manufacturing process improvements where your skills and interest allow, contributing to efficiency, quality and continuous improvement across production

  • An engineer, apprentice-qualified or graduate, interested in process optimisation but who enjoys hands-on tool-making

Skills and Experience Required

  • Relevant engineering or manufacturing qualification, such as an apprenticeship or above
  • Experience in toolmaking, machining or hands-on manufacturing of parts
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and work to tight tolerances
  • Commitment to safe working practices
  • Desirable: CAD/CAM or precision machining experience, familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement principles, and previous exposure to high-precision manufacturing operations
