A leading heavy process manufacturing company is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter / Technician to join its engineering team at a large industrial production site near Maidstone, Kent. Working as part of the maintenance team, you will carry out planned preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and continuous improvement activities across a range of heavy industrial plant and equipment.
Key responsibilities:
- Mechanical maintenance of process machinery and site services.
- Planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
- Fault finding and breakdown response.
- Repair and overhaul of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
- Supporting shutdown and project work.
- Using SAP CMMS to record maintenance activities.
- Identifying reliability improvements and engineering solutions.
- Ensuring compliance with site health and safety and environmental standards.
Requirements:
- Mechanical Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent).
- 5 x GCSEs (or equivalent) to include level C or above in Maths and English.
- Experience in a manufacturing, process, production, recycling, paper, steel, chemical, cement, power generation or other heavy industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance skills.
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and rotating equipment.
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
