GR Employment Ltd is recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver on behalf of one of our customers, DHL Express in Slough, Colnbrook. You will be a frontline representative of the company, responsible for the safe and timely delivery and collection of secure shipments to and from our Service Centre and Hub facilities. The post holder is directly responsible for enhancing the customer experience at every stage through a conscientious and dedicated approach to tasks. You will be expected to provide excellent customer service, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to work well under pressure.
Shift Pattern
- Flexi Drivers (Flexible Start Windows) — Monday to Friday, start times between 15:00–19:00, or Monday to Friday, start times between 18:00–22:00 (1-hour unpaid break).
Pay
- Hourly Rate: £19.63 per hour
- Shift Premium: Extra £2.80 per hour between 7pm and 8am
- Saturday Premium: Extra £1.22 per hour
- Sunday Premium: Extra £2.27 per hour
- Overtime paid after 45 hours at time and a half
The Role
- Perform scheduled trunking runs between DHL depots and hubs
- Plan and manage daily routes to meet deadlines efficiently
- Ensure the security of shipments and compliance with company policies and legal regulations
- Conduct pre- and post-vehicle checks
What You'll Need
- A valid Class 1 Driving Licence, Driver CPC Qualification and Digital Tachograph Card
- Minimum 1 year of Class 1 driving experience
- Excellent organisational and route-planning skills
- Flexibility to handle varying workloads and operational peaks
- Strong knowledge of local and regional routes
- Must be at least 21 years old with no more than 9 penalty points on your licence within the last 3 years (for insurance purposes)
As this role is based within a major UK airport, all applicants will be required to complete pre-employment screening in accordance with aviation security regulations, including a 5-year employment/education history verification and a UK criminal record check.
