This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator with strong commercial awareness to take ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to contract award, working on a diverse portfolio of commercial construction projects across the South East.

Our client, a successful and growing Main Contractor, is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their established Pre-Construction team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in securing future business, developing subcontractor relationships and supporting the continued growth of a highly respected construction contractor.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience as an Estimator within the construction industry
  • Strong understanding of construction tendering and pre-construction processes
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and technical information
  • Experience preparing estimates, tenders and cost plans
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
  • Full UK Driving Licence

The Role

  • Preparing detailed budgets, construction estimates and tenders
  • Reviewing employer requirements, specifications and tender documents
  • Undertaking quantity take-offs from drawings and project information
  • Preparing Bills of Quantities and pricing schedules
  • Producing and issuing subcontractor and supplier enquiries
  • Evaluating quotations and preparing tender comparisons
  • Managing tender submissions and associated documentation
  • Handling post-tender negotiations and queries
  • Managing projects through the pre-construction and contract award stages
  • Coordinating successful handovers to operational delivery teams
  • Maintaining and developing subcontractor and supplier relationships
  • Attending client meetings and project site visits
