We are looking for a Metrology Engineer to join a leading aerospace manufacturing environment, playing a key role in maintaining calibration standards and supporting the production of high-quality Aerospace and Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) components.
The Opportunity
This position offers the opportunity to work across a variety of metrology and inspection activities, including fixture calibration, CMM programming, First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), and measurement of complex components. You will work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to ensure products meet the highest industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out the inspection and calibration of fixtures, gauges, and tooling using both conventional metrology techniques and CMM equipment.
- Developing and maintaining CMM programmes using PC-DMIS for operator-level and full inspection requirements.
- Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) projects through accurate measurement and inspection activities.
- Producing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in collaboration with the Quality team.
- Working alongside Design Engineers to promote best-practice tooling and fixture design.
- Providing technical metrology support to manufacturing operations.
- Building strong relationships with both internal departments and external customers.
- Ensuring compliance with all company procedures relating to Quality, Health & Safety, Code of Conduct, and SOX requirements.
What We are Looking For - Essential Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience within dimensional measurement, metrology, or precision inspection.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent 3D visualisation and problem‑solving abilities.
- Practical, hands‑on engineering experience.
- IT proficiency, ideally including experience with 3D CAD systems.
- A recognised engineering qualification.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of CMM operation and programming.
- Previous experience using PC-DMIS software.
