Quality Engineer
PSM Recruitment is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join an established manufacturing business based in Hythe, Kent.
Working closely with the Chief Inspector and Quality team, to identify, prevent and resolve quality issues across both existing and new products.
You will be involved from the early stages of new product introduction, helping to ensure that quality requirements are properly planned and delivered through to the finished product reaching the customer.
You will ideally have previous experience within a Quality Engineering role in an engineering or manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of quality processes and customer requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Chief Inspector and Quality team as required
- Create and execute CMM programmes
- Carry out equipment and gauge calibration and maintain the calibration database
- Provide a fast and proactive response to quality concerns across the business
- Raise and champion 8D investigations
- Action SNCRs and manage non-conformances
- Identify root causes of quality issues and implement improvements
- Raise concessions where required
- Interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings
- Carry out contract reviews and provide feedback to the Quality Manager
- Identify potential non‑compliances and communicate these effectively
- Ensure drawings contain all information required to manufacture components correctly
- Prepare ISIRs and PPAPs
- Create and maintain Quality Schedules and SPMs (Special Packing Methods)
- Review manufacturing processes and introduce appropriate quality schedules, care points and gauges where required
- Support the successful introduction of new products from order through to delivery

- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience using a range of specialist measuring equipment
- Experience creating and maintaining Quality Schedules
- Knowledge of equipment and gauge calibration
- Experience with CMM programming
- Understanding of 8D investigations and root cause analysis
- Experience with PPAPs and ISIRs
- Knowledge of non‑conformance processes
- Experience conducting internal audits
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- A confident and proactive approach to problem solving
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
- Hours of work
39 hours per week (Monday - Thursday 08:00 - 17:00, Fridays 08:00 - 13:00).
