A specialist engineering solutions provider is seeking an experienced Area Manager to join its expanding UK team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven professional with strong technical expertise in ground engineering and a proven ability to win and deliver work within infrastructure and commercial sectors.
The Role
The Area Manager will act as a key technical and commercial lead, responsible for identifying opportunities, developing client relationships, and delivering innovative solutions to complex ground-related challenges. Working across infrastructure (rail, highways, utilities) and commercial sectors (warehousing and public sector), the successful candidate will support clients in improving asset safety, stability, and long‑term performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and secure new business opportunities across infrastructure and commercial markets
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders
- Carry out site visits to assess ground engineering challenges and recommend solutions
- Work with internal engineering teams to develop practical and cost‑effective designs
- Prepare and present competitive quotations and negotiate commercial terms
- Manage projects through the full lifecycle, acting as the main client point of contact
- Liaise with operations teams to ensure smooth and successful project delivery
- Maintain accurate pipeline and client data within the CRM system
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within the UK construction or engineering sector
- Experience within infrastructure (rail, highways, utilities) or commercial environments preferred
- Relevant qualification in construction, engineering, or surveying (HND, degree or equivalent)
- Strong technical understanding of ground engineering solutions such as grouting, slab stabilisation, void filling, and structural support
- Proven background in business development, sales, or account management
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
- Commercially aware with the ability to understand and respond to client needs
