Westin Par is recruiting for an experienced Senior Customs Clerk to join a well-established customs and logistics organisation based in Dover. This is an excellent opportunity for a customs professional with strong UK import and export experience to take on a senior role within a busy customs operation.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth movement of goods, maintaining compliance with UK customs regulations, and supporting customers across a broad range of customs requirements. Working within an experienced team, you will be involved in all aspects of customs clearance and border processes, supporting international trade movements and delivering a high standard of service in a fast-paced environment.
The Role
- Managing a variety of customs formalities and ensuring declarations are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Preparing and processing UK import and export customs declarations via the Customs Declaration Service (CDS).
- Managing NCTS Transit movements and associated documentation.
- Completing IPAFFS notifications, ENS and ELO declarations.
- Ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations and customs legislation.
- Liaising with customers, freight forwarders, transport providers and government authorities.
- Resolving customs-related queries and clearance issues promptly.
- Supporting the smooth and timely movement of goods through UK borders.
- Working closely with colleagues to maintain high levels of operational performance and customer service.
About You
- A minimum of five years' experience within a UK customs brokerage, customs agency or freight forwarding environment.
- Strong working knowledge of UK customs procedures and HMRC requirements.
- Proven experience using CDS for customs entries.
- Experience handling import and export declarations.
- Knowledge of NCTS Transit procedures, IPAFFS, ENS and ELO declarations.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Confidence communicating with customers and stakeholders at all levels.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure within a busy operational environment.
- A proactive and team-focused approach.
