Senior Business Development Manager

We\’re a pioneering defence technology company at the forefront of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) market. We design, engineer, and manufacture our entire suite of UAV systems and all their components. Our new, 100,000 sq ft facility, just east of Cambridge, is the heart of our innovation, and we\’re on a mission to build the future of defence.
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly ambitious individual to join us as our Senior Business Development Manager. This isn\’t a traditional sales role—it\’s a strategic leadership position. You will be responsible for a crucial component of our business, acting as the primary link between our cutting-edge engineering teams and our customers.
The Mission: Lead from the Front
This role is about more than just managing client relationships; it\’s about leading a new market area. Your deep technical understanding of UAV subsystems will allow you to guide and inform our product development, helping to steer the company\’s direction in a rapidly evolving market. You will be a vital link between our innovation and our clients\’ needs.
What you\’ll do:
- Lead a key business component: You will be the face of a significant part of our company, driving its strategy and growth.
- Bridge engineering and clients: Act as the technical and commercial conduit, translating complex user needs into engineering requirements and communicating our technical strengths to the market.
- Manage distributor relationships: Develop and maintain crucial relationships with other distributors and channel partners to expand our market reach.
- Drive business strategy: Use your business acumen and deep market knowledge to identify new opportunities and shape our long-term roadmap.
- Lead with conviction: We are looking for a confident, knowledgeable, and strong-willed individual who is respected for their expertise and vision.
Are you the one?
We\’re looking for someone with a proactive and determined mindset. Sales experience is not a prerequisite; a passion for our technology and the market is more important.
- A deep technical background: You must have a strong engineering understanding of UAV subsystems. An engineering degree is a significant advantage.
- Strong business acumen: You know how to identify market trends and turn them into tangible business growth.
- Excellent communication skills: You can confidently and persuasively articulate our technical strengths to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Flexibility: We offer a hybrid working model and a relaxed 38-hour work week.
- Expenses: All travel expenses are covered (no car allowance or company car).
