This role is being recruited by Artek on behalf of our valued client — a trusted care provider committed to delivering compassionate and person-centred support to individuals in need of care.

Job Type: Full-time (36 hours per week)

Shift Pattern: Days & Nights – 3 days a week, 12 hours per day

Pay Rate: £12.50 per hour

Job Summary:

The Care Assistant will provide high-quality personal care and support to individuals, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and dignified living environment. The role involves assisting with daily activities, monitoring well-being, and contributing to the overall physical and emotional comfort of clients in their own homes or in a care setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist service users with personal care tasks, including washing, dressing, toileting, and oral hygiene.
  • Support mobility, moving, and handling, using appropriate equipment where necessary.
  • Help with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring adequate hydration.
  • Monitor and record service users' overall well-being and any changes in condition, reporting to senior staff.
  • Undertake light domestic tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and tidying to maintain a pleasant environment.
  • Assist in the administration of medication, following strict protocols and under supervision.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support, encouraging social interaction and mental stimulation.
  • Accompany service users on outings or to appointments as required.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential care records in line with company policy.
  • Uphold the dignity, rights, and independence of all service users at all times.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Understanding of care principles and a person-centred approach.
  • Ability to assist with moving and handling, following safe practices.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with patience and empathy.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team.
  • Observant and attentive to the needs of others.
  • Basic record-keeping skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A relevant care qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care) is desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience in a care role (residential home, nursing home, or community setting) is advantageous.
  • Freshers with a genuine passion for care and a willingness to learn are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • A valid enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required for the successful candidate.
