The Business Development (BD) Manager – New Business is a pivotal global role that not only collaborates closely with Business Development teams and partners but also leads and manages a team of professionals to achieve excellence in proposal development and delivery. This role involves managing a team of six proposal professionals responsible for the development of high-quality pitch material that helps win new mandates. The BD Manager leads the assignment of pitch requests to team members, ensuring efficient and effective distribution of workload and management of team member capacity. The BD Manager remains fluent in the firm\’s client base, and practice and industry platform, and is positioned to engage with partners on pitch strategy to improve outcomes.
By effectively managing and guiding the team, the BD Manager ensures a consistently high quality of client service and the successful execution of business development strategies. This role will be located in our London Office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Engaging with lawyers to evolve their pitch approach, share client intelligence, and ensure high quality outputs to client requests
- Presenting to firm leadership to provide pitch data analysis and market trends
- Coordinating with BD leadership to develop and deploy marketing and pitching strategy for the firm’s practices and industries
- Collecting market and client intelligence to help inform necessary changes to pitch strategy and key messaging
- Supporting and developing team members, ensuring they are properly trained on and kept aware of changes to our pitching process and best practices
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Have experience with direct oversight or management of team member(s)
- Possess knowledge of pitch processes and the ability to utilise pitch management tools
- Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
- Display the ability to work in a high-pressure environment and use critical and analytical thinking skills
And have:
- A high school diploma or an equivalent
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent, preferably
- Relevant experience managing and leading strategic initiatives with a focus on developing and managing credentials, proposals, tenders, or other written sales tools, as well as developing successful BD strategies and winning proposals
- Relevant work experience in a legal, financial services, or professional services environment
