art-K is the UK’s largest private art education service, delivering fun, skill‑based classes to over 8,000 children each week. Our programme helps develop artistic skills, build confidence, and support mental well‑being through inspiring projects taught by passionate educators.

At our Croxley Green branch, the Part‑Time Art Teacher is responsible for delivering the classes and supporting studio operations, with time split across teaching and class preparation (75%) and administration and promotion (25%). Full training is provided in our teaching methods, with ongoing support from our central team and a national network of art teachers.

Working Hours & Schedule

This is a part‑time role with a fixed schedule during term time and adjusted hours during school holidays.

  • Term Time: 28 hours per week – schedule: Sunday 08:30 – 13:30; Monday 13:15 – 21:15; Tuesday 11:00 – 18:00; Wednesday 12:30 – 20:30.
  • School Holidays (14 weeks/year): 28 hours per week distributed Monday‑Friday 09:00 – 17:00 (exact daily hours vary by studio needs).

Salary: £21,548.80 per annum, fixed with potential increases as the studio grows. Promotional opportunities are available every term.

Start of the Role: August 2026. Candidates must be available to work the full schedule and be able to start on the specified date.

Job Responsibilities

Teaching & Child Development

  • Teach children who love art in a fun environment with high teacher‑student ratios.
  • Deliver engaging, skill‑based art programmes tailored to individual student needs during term time, and a fun, interactive holiday programme.
  • Continuously evaluate and monitor student progress, preparing personalised learning plans.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment for students to flourish.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with students and parents, providing regular progress updates.

Training & Professional Development

  • Participate in a two‑year training programme covering teaching methods, art techniques, child development and business administration.
  • Develop artistic and teaching skills continuously to enhance class delivery.
  • Additional bespoke training opportunities available.

Studio Management

  • Support management of studio operations, including ordering and managing art materials.
  • Motivate, mentor and delegate tasks to assistants, aligning with studio goals.
  • Track studio growth, retention and customer service standards to uphold the art‑K brand.
  • Foster community connections and coordinate events to promote the studio.
  • Use booking system to manage enquiries, complying with GDPR.
  • Follow child safeguarding and H&S policies.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds an art degree or equivalent experience across a range of artistic mediums.
  • Has experience teaching or working with children in an educational or creative setting.
  • Possesses strong communication skills, including empathy and effective engagement with students, parents and colleagues.
  • Exhibits a positive, proactive attitude and works well independently and as part of a team.
