The Role

We are looking for aSports Scientist within ourMen\’s First Team to support with the monitoring and optimisation of player performance through the collection, analysis, and communication of player data.

In this exciting role, you\’ll work closely with our Lead Sports Scientist and wider multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based insights, support applied performance practices and contribute to the ongoing development of player monitoring and recovery strategies.

Your day-to-day

  • Oversee data collection and analysis – you will diligently collect, collate and interpret daily wellness, GPS, heart rate and post-session subjective data
  • Maintain and manage equipment and systems – you\’ll ensure full functionality of GPS units, heart rate belts and other monitoring equipment, and you\’ll input and manage player information within in-house athlete management systems
  • Champion a data-driven approach – you will look to use data to highlight player status and inform decision-making around training, recovery and readiness
  • Provide evidence-based sports science expertise – you\’ll offer specialist advice to players, Coaches and wider staff, supporting the delivery of on-pitch monitoring, gym-based training and recovery sessions, and you will contribute to the design and refinement of player recovery and monitoring strategies
  • Collaborate with colleagues across our club – you will liaise with Academy, loans and international staff to ensure consistent data sharing and player monitoring and you\’ll work with our Technology teams to ensure systems and processes are fully integrated and compliant
  • Evolve our sports science offering – you\’ll actively contribute to our club\’s CPD programme, research initiatives and knowledge-sharing culture, and you will passionately support innovation and idea generation to enhance sports science processes and practice

  • Track record in elite sport – you\’re proud of your history of applying your sports science expertise in an elite sport setting
  • Credible expertise – you hold a BSc in Sports Science and you come with an extensive CPD portfolio
  • Experience with crucial tools and equipment – you\’ve got hands-on experience of using GPS and heart rate systems
  • Best-in-class communicator – you\’re equipped with excellent interpersonal skills andthe ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Flexible and adaptable approach – you possess a highly professional work ethic, resilience and adaptability in high-performance settings, as well as exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving ability
