The Role
We are looking for a Physical Performance Coach to work within our Men\’s First Team and support the athletic development of Men\’s First Team players and emerging Academy talent.
In this exciting role, you\’ll contribute to the preparation of Men\’s First Team and Academy players, with a particular emphasis on managing, organising, and visualising physical performance data to support decision-making and development.
You\’ll be entrusted to operate within our club’s physical performance framework and deliver practical sessions across gym work, pre-training activation, and rehabilitation under the guidance of our Lead Physical Performance Coach, in collaboration with the Rehab Coach and Physiotherapists.

Your day-to-day
- Leverage data to optimise performance– you\’ll diligently organise, manage and visualise physical performance data to support player development and coaching decisions, in line with the physical performance framework
 - Deliver thorough activation sessions– you will deliver gym-based and pre-training activation sessions for Men\’s First Team and Academy players under the guidance of our Lead Physical Performance Coach
 - Assist in screening and testing procedures– you\’ll make a valuable contribution to player profiling, benchmarking and the identification of development needs
 - Collaborate with rehabilitation specialists– you will work as a key part of the rehabilitation process by delivering physical interventions under the guidance of our Rehab Coach and Physiotherapists
 - Champion player development– you\’ll take pride in facilitating and supporting the integration of Academy players into the Men\’sFirst Team environment, ensuring clear communication and stakeholder engagement is maintained
 - Demonstrate a forward thinking mindset – you will proactively stay up to date with best practices in athletic development, youth-to-senior transitions, injury prevention and applied performance data analytics to support continuous program evolution
 - Participate in critical case meetings and reviews– you\’ll have proactive input into interdepartmental meetings and share insights that support holistic player development across performance, sports medicine and technical domains
 - Uphold our club\’s high standards– you will collaborate with colleagues to create a culture of excellence, where both players and staff are supported in a positive and progressive environment, and you\’ll proudly maintain our club standards in line with the code of conduct, ensuring compliance to safeguarding, health & safety and equal opportunity
 
What we are looking for
- Extensive experience within elite football – you\’re equipped with vast experience working in both academy and first team environments at an elite level
 - Credible expertise – you hold an MSc in Strength and Conditioning, Sport Science, or a related discipline and you have UKSCA accreditation (or equivalent)
 - Track record of creating physical development programs – you\’re proud of your history of designing and delivering individualised physical development programs within a structured long-term athlete development framework, and you have a comprehensive understanding of youth-to-senior athlete transitions and the physical demands of professional football
 - Data-driven approach – you\’ve got a proven ability to systematically record, monitor, and visualise physical performance data, especially gym-based metrics, using tools such as Excel, Smartabase, VALD/ForceDecks, TeamBuildr, NordBord or similar platforms
 - Determination to inspire others – you\’re highly self-motivated with the ability to inspire and motivate others, demonstrating a winning work ethic and commitment to excellence and you thrive when you\’re delivering hands‑on coaching, including warm-ups, gym sessions, field-based conditioning, and return-to-play work
 - Best-in-class collaborator – you come with experience of contributing to a multidisciplinary team environment, with clear evidence of effective collaboration across Medical, Coaching and Performance teams
 - Excellent communication skills – you possess an innate ability to translate complex data into practical coaching decisions and to engage players at various stages of development, and you\’re humble in discussions and decision‑making, with a proactive, engaging communication style that fosters collaboration
 - Adaptable and flexible style – you\’re easily able to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced elite sport environment, demonstrating initiative, flexibility and resilience under pressure
 - Exceptional attention to detail and professionalism – you are highly organised, detail‑oriented and proactive in managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously and you\’re skilled in producing clear, concise reports and maintaining professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
 - Growth mindset – you lead by example, promoting high performance, accountability and continuous improvement, and you\’re focused on enhancing knowledge and processes to maintain elite standards in sports science and performance
