We’re looking for a Network Engineer to play a vital role in our Technology Operations team, helping to design, implement and support resilient enterprise network infrastructure across our environments. This is an exciting opportunity where you’ll work across Cisco Software Defined Access (SDA), enterprise WiFi, security platforms and Azure networking, while supporting large‑scale operations and transformation activities. You’ll be a trusted technical expert within the team, helping to deliver secure, scalable and high‑performing network services for colleagues and stakeholders across our club.
We are committed to ensuring that our environments for children, young people and adults at risk remain safe and inclusive. We therefore require successful candidates to complete a DBS check and other essential background checks prior to starting their employment. Depending on the responsibilities of the role, a DBS will be either a basic, standard, or enhanced check.
Your day‑to‑day:
- Design and enhance our enterprise networks - you’ll collaborate across the Technology Operations team to implement and optimise enterprise wired and wireless infrastructure using Cisco SDA, Catalyst Center, ISE and Meraki Dashboard.
- Support critical network services - you will provide expert 2nd and 3rd line support across routing, switching, wireless, firewall and identity environments to maintain secure and resilient services.
- Lead complex technical changes - you’ll confidently deliver network upgrades, infrastructure refreshes and transformation projects with clear implementation and rollback procedures.
- Drive high‑performing wireless connectivity - you’ll proudly oversee high‑density WiFi environments through RF optimisation, performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Strengthen our security posture - you will partner closely with security teams to assist audits, remediate vulnerabilities and enhance access control across our network.
- Oversee our cloud networking estate - you’ll help integrate and maintain Azure networking services including VNets, VPN gateways, NSGs and hybrid connectivity solutions.
- Champion operational excellence - you will maintain accurate documentation, network standards and technical procedures to assist with continuous improvement across the team.
- Provide matchday and event support - you’ll play an important role in supporting matchdays and events through a shared on‑site and remote support rota.
What we are looking for:
- Significant enterprise network engineering experience - you come with advanced experience delivering and supporting complex enterprise network environments in fast‑paced organisations.
- CCNP‑level networking expertise - you possess advanced routing and switching knowledge across technologies including OSPF, BGP, VLANs, STP and QoS.
- Advanced Cisco SDA and wireless knowledge - you’re well versed in Cisco SDA, Catalyst Center and enterprise WiFi environments including Cisco 9800 controllers and Catalyst access points.
- Experience across multi‑vendor security platforms - you have hands‑on expertise supporting Palo Alto, Fortinet and Cisco firewall technologies.
- Cisco ISE experience - you’re confident delivering secure wired and wireless authentication solutions including 802.1X, RADIUS/TACACS+, guest and posture services.
- Cloud and hybrid networking capability - you possess working knowledge of Azure networking services and hybrid connectivity principles.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills - you thrive when diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues across LAN, WAN, WLAN and security environments.
- Collaborative and proactive approach - you build effective relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and partners and take pride in contributing to a supportive team culture.
Why choose us:
- An exciting reward and recognition scheme.
- Generous holiday allowance which increases with your length of service.
- Great internal learning and development programmes.
- A flexible hybrid working model.
- Priority access to apply for match tickets.
- A competitive health and wellbeing benefits package.
- A leading Employee Assistance Programme.
- Great discounts with some of our Partners.
- An opportunity to play a vital role in delivering our ED&I strategy by joining one of our Employee Networks.
