The Role

We are looking for a Goalkeeping Coach – Professional Development Phase to cover the full goalkeeping coaching remit, leading on an effective coaching programme for goalkeepers aged 17 to 21 years old, delivering and developing performance pathways and plans and creating an optimum environment for youth goalkeepers to develop and grow within the four pillars of our Academy: creating effective team players, lifelong learners, most efficient movers with a champion mentality.

In this exciting role, you\’ll be entrusted to promote exercise compliance, safe training practices and the benefits of sport and fitness to youth players. You will be empowered to play a pivotal role in the development of goalkeepers aged 17-21 years old, ultimately creating the Premier League goalkeepers of the future.

Your day-to-day

  • Design and implement crucial sessions – you will create and roll-out a diverse range of goalkeeper training sessions and an innovative general training and performance programme
  • Passionately coach our PDP level goalkeepers- you’ll manage all aspects of our U18’s goalkeeping programme and support our U21’s programme when required
  • Manage pre-match preparation and opposition analysis – you will provide our goalkeepers with video and statistical data on upcoming opponents, including detailed penalty analysis
  • Deliver engaging classroom sessions – you\’ll proactively review training and match situations to further aid goalkeeper development
  • Drive innovation across our training programmes – you will take pride in generating fresh ideas and approaches and incorporating them into training sessions which challenge and captivate our goalkeepers, pushing them to excel and improve
  • Develop crucial analytical frameworks – you\’ll play a key part in the development of goalkeeper analysis in conjunction with our Football Analysis team
  • Support with player recruitment – you\’ll assist our Head of Talent Identification and provide them with insightful analysis to identify future goalkeeping talent
  • Refine and evolve our coaching programme – you will identify and define, short, medium and long-term goals for the youth goalkeeper squad coaching programme and you\’ll eagerly seek out ways to improve in and assist with the implementation of these ideas

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience of coaching young goalkeepers – you have a track record coaching at academy or high level goalkeeper level and you\’re able to work with an Academy Manager to integrate goalkeeper coaching programmes into an Academy development plan
  • Credible expertise – you hold at least an FA Level 3/UEFA B Coaching Award in Goalkeeping
  • Passion for player development – you have experience of implementing, managing and monitoring development plans and maintaining an up to date understanding of modern coaching methods and strategies
  • Dynamic communicator – you\’re able to communicate clearly across a highly diverse range of audiences and contexts, adapting your style, tone and approach as needed
  • Inspirational leader – you possess a proven ability to lead, manage and develop a team of coaches with varying levels of experience
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills – you can coordinate and drive the delivery of support services (performance, medical, analysis, education and player care)
  • Trusted ambassador for our club – you act as a role model at all times, embodying our Academy\’s values of discipline, humility and respect, as well as our club\’s wider values
