We are looking for an Academy Medical Lead to guide and manage our Academy Medical Service team across our training sites and look after the medical welfare of all our Arsenal Women's Academy players. You'll work closely with the First Team Doctor and our Physiotherapists in providing treatment and rehabilitation programmes for all injured Women's Academy players. You will handle the implementation of injury prevention strategies and medical screenings and contribute to the on-going development of this process in conjunction with the AWFC Head of Medical and Academy Performance Lead.
Your day-to-day:
- Offer pitch side expertise - you'll take pride in providing pitch side medical cover for all our U21 fixtures.
- Ensure the appropriate level of cover is provided - you will be entrusted to make sure that we've got suitable cover at all matches with regards to FA and PGA regulations and guidelines.
- Oversee and manage all emergency equipment - you'll take responsibility for checking and maintaining all emergency medical equipment across our Academy venues and you'll ensure all medical personnel are trained to use it.
- Deliver outstanding medical care - you will offer an expert level of assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and medical management of all fit and injured Women's Academy players.
- Devise injury prevention strategies - you'll produce a comprehensive and clinically reasoned injury prevention programme for all Women's Academy players.
- Create and uphold detailed records and reports - you will be pivotal in the production of an expert level of clinical notes and you'll maintain comprehensive medical records on our database.
- Build impactful relationships - you'll demonstrate an expert level of communication skills with key stakeholders and you will regularly consult with players to gather information about their general health and injury history.
- Lead vital programmes - you will own, plan and implement our internal CPD programme for our Women's Academy and medical physiotherapy staff.
- Champion effective reporting - you'll ensure weekly, monthly and yearly injury update reports are sent to the phase leads and Academy Manager, and Medical team detailing the current injuries involving any player in the Women's Academy.
What We Are Looking For:
- Background in elite sport - you've got extensive experience working with elite level athletes, treating sporting injuries and championing their physical development.
- Qualified and credible expert - you proudly hold a BSc or MSc degree level qualification in Physiotherapy and you're MCSP and HCPC registered.
- Proven track record - you come with a successful and verifiable history in assessing, treating, and rehabilitating injuries of youth athletes aged 8 to 16 years as well as enhancing their physical development.
- PGAAC understanding - you have a firm grasp of all phases of the Professional Game Academy Audit.
- In-depth medical knowledge - you're equipped with valuable expertise on screening, monitoring, assessing, treating, and rehabilitating youth athletes - as well as prowess in long-term athletic development.
- Passionate role model for our club - you conduct yourself with energy and enthusiasm and you inspire young athletes.
- Experience with manual handling and clinical reasoning - you use your expertise to effectively assess and treat our Women's Academy players.
- Organised and flexible - you're able to adapt to ever changing priorities and able to call on excellent organisational skills.
