Job Introduction:
ArrowXL is the UK’s leading provider of Two‑Person Home Delivery. We store and deliver large, heavy and bulky items that often require two people to handle, and sometimes installation. We are recruiting a Warehouse First Line Manager to lead our team in Enfield, managing the smooth operation of warehouse functions on the AM shift, ensuring delivery crews are fully loaded.
Reporting To: Warehouse Shift Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficient resource planning and cost control while ensuring effective and compliant operation
- Lead a team of warehouse operatives to coordinate offload, put‑away, pick and load processes, maintaining stock quality and integrity
- Resourcing, development, and management of all colleagues, ensuring they are fully trained and retained
- Make prompt decisions to protect customer service and delivery schedules, remaining commercially focused
- Lead on‑site resources to ensure timely availability to meet customer needs
People Management:
- Communicate clearly to set objectives and standards aligned with business goals
- Define and manage daily activities, prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
- Accountable for quality and performance of the team
- Model positive behaviour, recognise performance and address underperformance
- Provide advice and direction to drive improvements
- Resolve conflicts, manage conduct and attendance per AXL policy
- Build open, honest, professional relationships with team and stakeholders
Ideal Candidate – Requirements:
- Experience managing teams in a customer‑focused, fast‑paced warehouse environment
- Experience handling first‑line people management issues (absence, performance, investigations)
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to read and utilise management information to identify improvements and drive change
- Ability to read and interpret financial data to manage and improve resource costs
- Strong people skills, able to influence, coach and develop
- Knowledge of JDA WMS is an advantage
