In simple terms, you help Marketing & Commercial find the best way to operate at its best. You diagnose how we work today and design how we should work in the future. You will establish processes and ways of working that are simpler, faster and enabled by data, automation and AI.
Purpose of the role
We are looking for a high-impact Lead Process Engineer to support the next phase of McLaren Racing’s Marketing & Commercial transformation. This role will lead how process engineering is applied across the function, working with senior leadership to identify and define the most effective ways of operating. You will diagnose current ways of working, design future-state processes, and establish clear frameworks, standards and governance that enable consistency, speed and scalability. A core requirement of this role is delivering measurable, tangible improvement. You will not only design better ways of working, but also baseline current performance, define success measures, and demonstrate clear impact across productivity, capacity, efficiency and delivery outcomes. This is a hands-on role. You will be actively involved in process mapping, analysis and design work, working alongside others to deliver outcomes rather than operating purely at a strategic level. You will work across the full Marketing & Commercial ecosystem, partnering closely with functional leaders, MarCom Technology, and transformation workstreams to ensure process, technology and data evolve together. AI and automation are core design principles. You will ensure that processes are designed to leverage data, automation and AI from the outset, improving decision-making, reducing manual effort, and enabling faster, more consistent delivery.
Role dimensions
- Reports to Director, MarCom Operations & Transformation.
- Works across all Marketing & Commercial functions.
- Significant exposure to senior stakeholders.
- Partners closely with MarCom Technology and wider enterprise process initiatives.
- Individual contributor role with leadership through expertise and influence.
Principal accountabilities
- Process strategy, methodology and alignment: Define and establish the approach to process engineering across Marketing & Commercial. Set standards, frameworks and principles for process design, governance and continuous improvement. Work with other process and transformation teams across McLaren Racing to ensure consistency of methodology and approach where appropriate. Ensure a joined-up view of how process engineering is applied across the organisation.
- End-to-end process diagnosis and redesign: Lead diagnosis of current-state processes across the full MarCom ecosystem. Identify friction, duplication, inefficiencies and breakdowns across workflows and handoffs. Design future-state processes that are simple, scalable and aligned to a high-performance operating model.
- Measurement, performance and value realisation: Establish clear baselines for current-state performance across key processes. Define KPIs and success measures for future-state processes. Track and demonstrate improvements in productivity, capacity, efficiency and delivery outcomes. Quantify impact, including time saved, improved throughput, reduced cost or improved utilisation of resource. Ensure process improvements translate into measurable business value.
- Operating model enablement: Translate operating model principles into practical ways of working. Define clear ownership, governance, decision rights and interaction models across teams. Shape how work flows across the organisation, not just within individual functions.
- AI, data and automation integration: Design processes that are ready for automation and AI from the outset. Partner with MarCom Technology to ensure process and systems evolve together. Ensure data requirements, structure and quality are embedded within process design.
- Stakeholder influence and change: Work with senior stakeholders to challenge and evolve existing ways of working. Drive alignment across functions with differing priorities and perspectives. Support adoption of new processes through clear articulation, engagement and practical implementation.
- Cross-functional and enterprise alignment: Collaborate with process and transformation initiatives across People, Finance and other areas. Share best practice and contribute to a consistent, joined-up approach across McLaren Racing. Ensure local solutions align where appropriate with broader enterprise standards.
Knowledge, skills and experience
Essential: Proven experience leading process design and improvement in complex, fast-paced environments. Experience operating within large-scale transformation or operating model change programmes. Strong capability in end-to-end process mapping, redesign and implementation. Ability to define frameworks and methodologies, not just apply them. Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability at senior level. Experience integrating process design with technology, data or automation initiatives.
Highly desirable: Experience in fast-paced, commercially driven environments such as marketing, media, sport or consumer brands. Experience working alongside technology functions to translate process into system-enabled workflows. Exposure to AI, automation or data-led process optimisation.
Personal attributes: Structured but pragmatic and focuses on what works rather than theory. Comfortable operating in ambiguity and evolving environments. Strong collaborator with a cross-functional mindset. Challenges constructively and influences with credibility. High energy, delivery-focused and outcomes-driven.
What Success Looks Like (12 Month FTC)
By the end of 12 months, you will have:
- Delivered clear end-to-end process maps across priority MarCom workflows, with improved clarity, consistency and ownership.
- Reduced operational friction and improved speed, quality and predictability of delivery in key areas.
- Established robust governance, decision rights and escalation routes across core processes.
- Embedded SOPs and clear process ownership for priority workflows.
- Enabled improved data quality, reporting and visibility to support MarCom performance.
- Identified and delivered opportunities for automation, simplification and AI-enabled improvement where appropriate.
- Supported successful implementation of the Commercial Target Operating Model and provided clear inputs into Phase 2 design.
- Left a sustainable framework for ongoing improvement, including documentation, KPIs, ownership and routines.
