Purpose of the role

The Executive, Publisher plays a pivotal role in delivering world-class digital experiences across our owned platforms - the McLaren Racing website and mobile app. Working across Formula 1, IndyCar, WEC, Gaming, and wider programmes, this role is responsible for the consistent, accurate and impactful publication of content that fuels our strategic pillars of Growth, Engagement, Monetisation, and Retention. You will support the planning, scheduling and distribution of written, video and multimedia content across our digital ecosystem - ensuring fans receive timely, high-quality storytelling and live coverage. This role is a critical part of our race weekend publishing team, delivering real-time coverage to millions of global fans. You will join a fast-paced, high-performing environment committed to digital innovation, operational excellence, and the continued expansion of McLaren Racing’s global fanbase.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Content publishing and operations: Day-to-day publishing on McLaren.com and the McLaren App, ensuring accurate, timely and high-quality execution across all platforms. Manage and maintain content using tools including our CMS, video player, fan engagement tools, API-powered feeds, and internal asset libraries. Support the maintenance of annual, monthly and weekly content schedules, ensuring alignment with marketing, communications and commercial teams. Format, optimise and publish landing pages, articles, features, videos, galleries, quizzes, polls and interactive content.
  • Race weekend delivery: Deliver remote real-time race weekend coverage across all series including management of live commentary, session updates, schedule information, imagery, video and results. Operate within fast-moving, high-pressure environments, maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. Work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays, in line with the global motorsport calendar.
  • Fan engagement and activation: Support the ideation, creation and publication of exclusive, loyalty-driving content, gated experiences, and early access features. Execute fan engagement activations (polls, predictions, gamified content) using interactive tools.
  • Commercial and partnership integration: Support the integration of commercial partners into owned-channel storytelling and digital activations. Ensure partner assets, articles and video placements are delivered to premium standards and according to contractual deadlines.
  • Quality, performance and innovation: Uphold high publishing standards: error-free, compliant, brand-aligned. Apply SEO best practices, meta data optimisation and accessibility standards. Proactively contribute to ideation across the Digital Team, including improving fan experience and the creation and execution of content. Provide data-driven input into process improvements, tooling enhancements and short-term operational roadmap discussions.

Knowledge Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience publishing via a modern CMS (Contentful preferred but not essential).
  • Demonstrable interest and knowledge of motorsport, ideally including Formula 1.
  • Experience working with video platforms, image editing tools and multimedia assets.
  • Strong understanding of SEO, metadata, audience development and platform optimisation.
  • Experience working with analytics dashboards and data to inform publishing decisions is an advantage.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and external suppliers (agencies, freelancers, creative teams).
  • Comfortable working across time zones, with willingness to work irregular hours, including race weekends.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in formatting, layout and quality control.
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Highly organised with strong time-management and prioritisation abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and accurate under pressure, in fast-moving environments.
  • Comfortable working with web/app publishing workflows, asset management, and digital tooling.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic publishing issues and collaborate with product teams on fixes and improvements.
