Purpose of the Role
As a Trainee Coordinator, you will support the Race Logistics team with day-to-day logistics, stock control and parts management activities, developing practical experience across core Race Team logistics functions within a Formula 1 environment. The role is designed for an early-career individual looking to build foundational knowledge in race car parts logistics, stock control, lifing and event support, while contributing to the effective delivery of Race Team programmes both at and away from the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC). The role may involve unsociable hours, weekend work and the possibility of event attendance. You will work closely with Race Logistics Co-ordinators, Project Management and cross-functional stakeholders to support stock availability, parts preparation and logistics activities in support of race, test and build schedules. This is a development-focused role with a strong learning emphasis, operating under guidance and supervision from experienced Race Logistics team members. This is a 2-year fixed term contract. At the end of this period, there may be an opportunity to continue for a third year.
What You’ll Do
- Support the accurate transaction and movements of race car components through stock control, servicing and logistics systems.
- Assist with maintaining inventory accuracy, stock checks and data entry within Race Logistics systems.
- Ensure post event servicing and compliance to the Lifing Program.
- Assist Project management teams to manage stock to correct issue.
- Assist and liaise with Project Management teams and other key stakeholders to manage stock and flag shortages, delays or issues.
- Be the point of contact for Race Team requests from trackside that fall within your area of responsibility.
- Support adherence to logistics processes, procedures and health & safety requirements.
- Support car assembly and race team functions by kitting of components for build and/or pre-fits.
- Support packing and unpacking of shipments to and from race and test events, working to the strict deadlines as outlined by the logistics manager or team leader.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities within Race Logistics, including process and data improvements.
What You’ll Bring
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Logistics, Engineering, Motorsport or a related discipline, or relevant vocational training.
- Foundational knowledge logistics, stock control or supply chain principles.
- Proficient IT skills, including effective use of Microsoft Office applications.
- A strong attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately with data and adhere to defined processes.
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn logistics systems, lifing concepts and motorsport-specific procedures.
- Genuine interest for motorsport and Formula 1 environments.
- Excels at cross-function planning.
