Arrochar & Tarbet Community Development Trust (ATCDT) is recruiting a Development Officer to support the delivery of the Local Place Plan (LPP) and support the aims and objectives of the Trust.
Job Purpose
The Development Officer will lead, design, and deliver inclusive community projects that respond to the needs and aspirations of Arrochar, Succoth and Tarbet residents as part of the established Local Place Plan. The role will develop, seek funding and coordinate a diverse programme of initiatives, working collaboratively with residents, volunteers, and delivery partners.
Grant Application and Delivery
- Identify potential funding streams to support ATCDT priority projects.
- Prepare and submit funding applications in consultation with ATCDT Board members, and manage the delivery of successful initiatives.
- Engage with ATCDT for approval on work plans and expenditure, and report progress on an agreed schedule.
- Ensure compliance with ATCDT policies, including health and safety, safeguarding, equality and diversity.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
- Track progress of programmes and funding activity, produce quarterly and annual reports for ATCDT, and monitor reports for funders as required.
- Consider options to gather community feedback and understand impact.
Engagement and Communication
- Develop relationships with potential project partners and local grassroots organisations, strengthening community participation in local projects.
- Promote activities through social media, newsletters, posters, networks, and local routes, ensuring communication is accessible, inclusive, and culturally sensitive.
- Work closely with ATCDT to support community-led decision-making, including facilitating ongoing engagement through surveys, drop-ins, events, community forums etc.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with communities in community development, community education, health and wellbeing.
- Experience successfully developing and securing funding applications for the community/voluntary sectors and reporting progress against them.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people and interpersonal skills to motivate and build relationships with others.
- Awareness of challenges experienced by rural communities.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, ability to plan and prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Experience in handling sensitive information confidentially.
- Experience delivering community projects/programmes within the voluntary sector, housing or community development.
- Qualification in Community Development or a related field.
- Creative, innovative approach to programme development.
- Experience in facilitating wellbeing, cultural, or creative activities.
- Awareness of funding opportunities relevant to capital and environmental projects.
- Driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Person Specification
We are looking for someone with a strong track record of securing grant funding in the community sector who can demonstrate delivery in a rural setting. We are looking for a self-starter who can work with volunteers and bring the community along with you in an inclusive way. Some flexibility for occasional weekend/evening hours may be required, on agreement.
The Terms
The contract will be for a maximum of 80 hours per month for 18 months, with the possibility of extension for a further 18 months if funding is secured. If self-employed: remuneration will be £2,000 per month for 80 hours, with the contractor responsible for their own tax liability, NI, pension, etc. If not self-employed: an equivalent rate of pay, with tax liability, National Insurance and pension deducted. The contract will offer a degree of flexibility in terms of specific working days/hours. This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of time spent in the Three Villages Hall, Arrochar and the surrounding communities. A driving licence and access to a car would be advantageous. Some weekend/evening working will be needed, with prior arrangement.
