Through buses, trains, coaches, trams, waterbuses, bike-sharing systems, on-demand transport solutions and a rolling stock leasing business, we proudly connect people and communities safely, reliably and sustainably across 11 countries. Our purpose is simple: to deliver these services in a better way, every day.

With strong roots dating back to 1938, an ambitious growth agenda, and a continuously evolving relationship with our shareholder I Squared Capital (acquired in May 2024), this is an exciting time to join Arriva as we shape the next chapter of our journey.

We are seeking a Senior Treasury Manager to support the continued transformation and operational leadership of Arriva’s international Treasury function. Arriva Treasury Company Limited provides treasury services across the Arriva Group, including funding, liquidity management, financial risk management, guarantees, and treasury systems management. Operating across an international environment, the team plays a critical role in supporting the Group’s strategic growth ambitions.

This role will operate on a hybrid working basis, with a minimum of three days per week based from our Sunderland (Doxford) office. The remaining time can be worked in a way that best supports business delivery while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day operational delivery of the Group Treasury function, ensuring activities are managed in line with Treasury policies, governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the ongoing development and transformation of Treasury operations, including enhancement of the Treasury Management System (ION Reval) and optimisation of processes and controls.
  • Oversee group cash management activities, including liquidity forecasting, cash pooling, intercompany funding, and longer-term funding planning.
  • Support the management of debt facilities, covenant compliance, funding documentation, and shareholder governance requirements.
  • Manage guarantee and collateral processes, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and effective facility management.
  • Oversee Treasury risk activities including foreign exchange, interest rate exposure, and fuel hedging programmes, including support for IFRS hedge accounting requirements.
  • Provide Treasury insight and assumptions to support budgeting, forecasting, and wider business planning activities.
  • Drive improvements in Treasury reporting, operational efficiency, controls, and management information.
  • Build strong relationships across the international Group, partnering with Finance teams, operational stakeholders, banks, auditors, and external providers.
What we are looking for

We are looking for a Treasury professional with strong operational Treasury experience gained within a complex, multinational organisation. You will bring:

  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
  • A professional accounting qualification with knowledge of IFRS9 derivative and hedge accounting.
  • A recognised Treasury qualification (such as ACT) is desirable.
  • Strong experience across Treasury operations including cash management, liquidity, controls, funding, and financial risk management.
  • Experience working within multinational or complex group structures.
  • Knowledge of Treasury Management Systems, ideally ION Reval or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling capability, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-specialists.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

This is a key role within Group Treasury, offering the opportunity to help shape and develop a growing international Treasury function during a period of significant transformation and strategic change. You will have the opportunity to influence Treasury operations, improve systems and controls, and work closely with senior stakeholders across the Group to support Arriva’s long-term growth ambitions.

The closing date for applications is midnight on Friday 12 June 2026. Arriva Group reserves the right to close this vacancy early.
