The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Team Leader to take ownership of depot operations at our Tyne Yard site, leading from the front to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality rolling stock maintenance.
You’ll be responsible for managing people, performance and production across a busy night shift operation, ensuring safety, compliance and service delivery standards are always met.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and managing depot operations, activities and team members
- Driving a strong safety-first culture and ensuring compliance with standards and procedures
- Delivering production efficiency, quality output and customer requirements
- Monitoring and reporting on performance, including KPIs
- Coaching, mentoring and developing your team to reach their full potential
- Ensuring team competence and supporting training and assessments
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the depot
- Overseeing safe movement and operation of rail vehicles
- Maintaining accurate records and operational documentation
- Promoting a positive, inclusive and high-performing team environment
What You’ll Bring
- Level 3 qualification in Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong experience in rail vehicle maintenance and depot operations
- Proven people management and supervisory experience
- Excellent understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering
- Knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings
- Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills
