We are looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our Day Shift Engineering Team at Brixton Bus Garage. This is a key role responsible for maintaining the safety, reliability, and performance of our bus fleet by carrying out both preventative and reactive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
Working as part of a dedicated engineering team, you will play a vital role in ensuring vehicles remain roadworthy, compliant, and available for service, helping us deliver safe and reliable transport for our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections on a wide range of vehicle electrical systems and equipment.
- Diagnose, investigate, and repair electrical faults efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime and maintain operational performance.
- Perform electrical installations, modifications, upgrades, and repairs in line with company procedures and industry regulations.
- Inspect, test, and commission electrical components and systems to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance.
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and manufacturer documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering colleagues, supervisors, and operational teams to support fleet availability and service delivery.
- Accurately complete maintenance records, defect reports, and work documentation using company systems.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety legislation, company policies, and engineering best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving vehicle reliability, efficiency, and maintenance processes.
- Provide technical support and share knowledge with colleagues when required.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer, Auto Electrician, or Electrical Technician, ideally within the bus, transport, automotive, heavy vehicle, rail, or related engineering sectors.
- Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills on complex electrical systems.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive, safety-conscious, and results-driven approach to work.
- Commitment to maintaining high engineering and quality standards.
- Experience working on modern bus electrical systems, multiplex wiring systems, or hybrid/electric vehicles.
- Relevant electrical engineering qualification or recognised apprenticeship.
- Full UK Driving Licence (subject to site requirements).
