The Role:
Working on a 4 on 4 off basis in our Crewe depot, you will be responsible for all technical engineering support on the TfW MK4 fleet along with supporting other customer fleets if required which will include inspection, fault diagnosis and solution development to technical and tooling issues.
What You’ll Do:
Provide technical support in the form of written technical advice such as briefs, drawings, higher-level fault- finding and repeat defect investigations to contribute and improve the reliability of the TfW Mk4 fleet.
Liaise with Service Delivery Manager regarding workload for team, detailing requirement and deliverables for that shift. Lead customer facing meetings, including daily maintenance planning meetings to agree service priorities and accurately record actions against these.
Ensure that safety procedures and documents are adhered to in accordance with VMI and local instruction.
Update IT systems such as customer maintenance management systems and SAP, ensuring all jobs are closed in TfW MMS correctly prior to the train entering service. Where necessary liaise with DDM Canton to manage deferral and concession in accordance with ATC train release policy.
Provide technical support on the MK4 Fleet in the form of written technical advice such as briefs, drawings, higher-level fault-finding and repeat defect investigations. Also to maintain key performance indicators as requested by ATC senior management team and TfW.
Undertake regular quality audits of the maintenance work and prepare reports on the findings.
Undertake post incident technical investigations to determine the direct, underlying cause of the safety incident.
Liaise with customer technical departments as necessary on any required work streams.
Assist team members with exam work for the purpose of electrical testing, being the Authorised Person.
Coaching and mentoring team members to develop the technical ability of technicians.
What You Bring:
Qualifications – recognised engineering qualification at HND level
Experience – minimum apprentice trained CI fitter/ electrician with 5 years experience working with passenger trains such as DMU/MK4 Loco
Computer Skills – excellent computer proficiency MS Office 365 – Teams, Share Point, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Forms, SAP Power BI and Outlook
Communication – Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with customers and all internal stakeholders to improve service quality and value for money where appropriate.
Valid driving licence
