Occupational Safety & Assurance Manager
CrossCountry is seeking an Occupational Safety & Assurance Manager to serve as an expert in occupational safety & assurance. The ideal candidate will be a competent safety professional with experience in complex operational organizations.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead Occupational Safety and Assurance initiatives within XCTL.
- Support XCTL in developing its maturity in occupational safety management as a subject matter expert.
- Provide expert advice to managers, ensuring risk assessments and controls are properly prepared, compliant with legislation, and ready for review by relevant authorities.
- Manage communication and actions with external bodies regarding Occupational Safety.
- Oversee the preparation and management of the XCTL Safety Certificate, including the review process.
- Monitor safety performance in areas under your responsibility or expertise.
- Liaise with Network Rail, ORR, RDG, and individual TOCs on safety matters on behalf of CrossCountry.
- Maintain professionalism in all occupational safety, security, and environmental management issues.
- Review applicable legislation and industry standards, and develop plans to ensure compliance.
- Lead safety efforts across the business.
- Support line managers on all health and safety aspects.
Qualifications and experience:
- Minimum NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Experience working within the Rail industry or similar sectors with a focus on Occupational Health and Safety.
- Ability to promote a positive work environment by addressing health and safety concerns.
- Implement preventative measures and provide guidance to colleagues and management.
- Understanding of Railway Safety Certification and renewal processes.
- Experience working with regulators such as the Office of Rail and Road, HSE, and Local Authorities.
