Overview
Welcome to Arriva! Come and start your bus driving career at our Castleford depot where you will be the heart of the community. Whether it is getting commuters to work, helping customers with popping to the shops or getting children to school, you will be connecting our customers to what matters to them, getting to know familiar faces, building relationships and being a positive part of someone’s day.
Pay and progression
Pay rates: £13.75 - £16.00 per hour. £13.75 per hour during training and mentoring (around 8 weeks). £14.00 per hour during the 6‑month probation period. £16.00 per hour after successful probation completion. Pay rates are reviewed via frequent pay negotiations.

Hours and scheduling
5 out of 7 rotating shift pattern up to 6–8 weeks in advance. Shifts include mornings from 04:00, afternoons from 12:00 and evenings from 18:00 on a rotational basis. Fixed early, afternoon or evenings are not offered. Overtime is available.
Responsibilities
- Transport passengers safely and reliably to their destinations (commuters, shoppers, students, etc.).
- Deliver quality customer service and represent Arriva positively to the community.
- Adhere to schedules and regulatory requirements, including training and performance expectations.
- Engage with customers and maintain a friendly, helpful attitude throughout shifts.
Requirements
- Must be over 18 years of age.
- Have been driving for a minimum of 6 months.
- No more than 6 points on your licence.
- Will need to undergo a drug and alcohol test before your assessment.
- Great people skills and flexibility, as shifts may start as early as 4:00 and will not exceed 1:00 the following morning depending on start time.
