This is a key leadership position, combining hands‑on engineering expertise with responsibility for supporting, guiding, and developing a skilled team of technicians, ensuring our fleet remains safe, compliant, and fully serviceable.
What We Offer
- £26.00 per hour basic rate
- Overtime paid at £39.00 per hour (time and a half)
- Full‑time, permanent contract
- 5 out of 7 working pattern
- Initial Monday to Friday shifts, operating between 05:00 and 01:30, on a rotating early and late shift pattern
- Free bus travel for you and a nominated person on Arriva services

The Role
You will play a vital role in the day-to-day performance of the depot by leading engineering activity and ensuring all maintenance and repair work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, supporting, and motivating a team of engineers and fitters
- Carrying out diagnostics, inspections, and repairs on PCV vehicles
- Allocating work and monitoring performance against safety, quality, and service targetsEnsuring full compliance with DVSA, Health & Safety, and Arriva standards
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and depot systems
- Supporting the Engineering Manager with training, mentoring, and apprentice development
What We’re Looking For
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Previous experience in a Chargehand, Supervisory, or Senior Technician role
- Strong knowledge of PCV or HGV mechanical systems
- Confident communicator with proven leadership capability
- Flexible approach to working hours, including early, late, and weekend shifts
