Arriva UK Bus is looking for skilled and experienced Engineers to join our growing engineering teams across the business.

Whether your background is in PSV engineering, HGV maintenance, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, rail, heavy plant, or commercial vehicle repair, this is an exciting opportunity to build a long-term engineering career with one of the UK’s leading transport operators.

As an Engineer at Arriva, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving our fleet and infrastructure, helping ensure our vehicles remain safe, reliable, and fully operational for the millions of passengers who rely on our services every day.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on buses, PSVs, vehicles, and engineering equipment
  • Complete all types of body repair.
  • Complete repairs, modifications, and upgrades in line with DVSA, safety, and engineering standards
  • Support fleet reliability through effective technical problem solving
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
  • Maintain accurate engineering records, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation
  • Work collaboratively with workshop teams, supervisors, and operational departments
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve vehicle reliability and workshop efficiency
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and apprentices where required
  • What We’re Looking For
  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Body repair
  • Previous experience as a PSV Engineer, HGV Technician, Bus Mechanic, Vehicle Technician, Mechanical Engineer, Heavy Vehicle Engineer or Car Body Repair.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding experience within a workshop or fleet environment
  • Experience using engineering tools, workshop equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures within engineering and transport environments
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality workmanship
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays where required
