Start your bus driving career with Arriva at our Milton Keynes depot. You will be at the heart of your community, getting commuters to work, helping customers with short trips to the shops, or getting children to school. You will build relationships and even be the highlight of someone’s day.
Responsibilities
- Drive city buses on assigned routes.
- Assist passengers and provide friendly customer service.
- Ensure safety and punctuality of all journeys.
Compensation
During Training (first 4–6 weeks) – £14.50 per hour. After Training – Base rate £14.50, rising to £18.35 per hour when you start driving solo. Overtime – £15.70 during training, rising to £20.19 when you start driving solo. Pay rates are reviewed through frequent negotiations.
Working Hours
Rotating shift patterns over 5 of 7 days. Mornings start from 04:00, afternoons from 12:00, evenings from 18:00. Overtime available on request.
Training
Full paid training included. You will receive your PCV licence at Arriva Training School, spend the first 3–5 days at Luton Depot, then continue the remainder at Milton Keynes, followed by mentor support for a few additional weeks.
Requirements
- Must be over 18 years of age.
- Have been driving for a minimum of 6 months.
- No more than 6 points on your licence.
- Pass a drug and alcohol test.
- Great people and customer‑service skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts.
