We have an excellent new role within our Finance Team! Arriva Rail London are on the hunt for a Management Accountant. You will play a pivotal role in our financial team, working closely with the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis to drive strategic and financial performance across the organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career, as we are looking for either part-qualified or qualified accountant!
Responsibilities:- Financial Reporting & Analysis: You will be responsible for delivering timely, accurate internal and group level reporting for the parent organisation, including succinct variance analysis against forecasts and budgets while also supporting the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting in collaboration with key internal stakeholders.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: The Management Accountant will lead the preparation and production of high-quality annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, ensuring that stakeholders are well-informed and positioned to make sound financial decisions.
- Supporting Strategic Decisions: You will act as a financial advisor to management by providing accurate and insightful data that supports financial control and strategic decision-making, ultimately helping to drive profitability.
- Financial Controls and Processes: Handling crucial financial tasks will be another key part of this role including processing accruals and provisions, reconciling key control accounts and ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
- Ad Hoc Analysis & Reporting: The Management Accountant will collaborate with the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis to deliver other financial reports and analyses as needed, providing flexibility and support for evolving business needs.
- Business Partnering: You will work as a trusted Business Partner, translating budgets and financial data into actionable insights for stakeholders to support informed financial decisions throughout the organisation.
- The successful candidate will have experience in Management Accounts and provide practical examples of delivering commercial support, budgeting, and forecasting.
- You need to be confident, a good communicator and be able to build relationships across the business. Preferably (but not essentially) with experience in the railway industry.
- A recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent) or to be working towards one.
- Be adaptable and able to provide "hands-on" support to the business.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to fully understand the financial implications of the contractual environment including the Concession Agreement, Track Access Agreements, Rolling Stock leases, Facilities Management and Train Maintenance Agreements.
- You will need to have proficiency in Excel and financial reporting packages with strong analytical skills.
- This individual will need to have excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure towards tight deadlines.
