Arriva Rail London are expanding their ESG team with a Stakeholder & Community Manager. You will be reporting directly into the Head of ESG and will be an integral part of the team, fostering positive relationships between Arriva Rail London and its various stakeholders.
Responsibilities:- Lead the development and implementation of community engagement strategies for London Overground, enhancing customer and stakeholder loyalty through initiatives that reflect local priorities, including targeted programmes for schools, charities, and underrepresented groups.
- Conduct local needs analyses and engage with front-line staff across the network to ensure community initiatives are informed by lived experience and grounded in the realities of the areas served.
- Establish and cultivate partnerships with industry bodies, London Boroughs, rail user groups, and third-sector organisations to co-create community and social value projects, securing third-party funding where applicable.
- Manage Arriva Rail London’s community hubs by collaborating with local groups, identifying new community spaces, and overseeing their effective utilisation across the network.
- Develop and implement a communications and engagement plan that promotes transparency, facilitates stakeholder dialogue, and amplifies the impact of social value initiatives.
- Actively participate in the Social Value Committee, driving forward initiatives that strengthen the connection between rail services and the communities they serve.
- Champion social value internally by working across departments to embed community-focused thinking into business planning and operations.
- Measure and report the impact of community projects using quantifiable metrics, aligning outcomes with ARL’s ESG strategy and demonstrating positive social impact.
- Represent ARL at industry working groups, external forums, and the Communications Working Group, contributing to sector-wide discussions, sharing best practices, and shaping collaborative policy initiatives.
- Monitor political and public affairs developments for potential impacts on ARL, preparing briefings and insights for senior leaders.
- Provide guidance and support for cross-directorate projects with significant public affairs, community, or reputational impact.
- Facilitate relationships between ARL colleagues and community stakeholders, organise events, maintain a stakeholder database, and support crisis communications efforts.
- Carry out administrative tasks for team members and undertake other responsibilities as reasonably required.
- This individual will need to have the ability to maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholder groups including customers, community organisations, political bodies and internal teams.
- You will need to be able to translate insights into actionable strategies that deliver social value and meet local priorities, with strong written and verbal communication skills for crafting clear, inclusive messaging to various stakeholders.
- The Community & Stakeholder Manager will also require the ability to work cross-functionally and influence internal teams to embed community and social value thinking into business operations.
- Any project management experience would be highly advantageous as well as familiarity with tools and frameworks for measuring social impact and stakeholder satisfaction.
- This individual will need to have an understanding of impact assessment tools and reporting frameworks for community & stakeholder initiatives, as well as the ability to think strategically and influence stakeholders at all levels.
