We are currently looking for a skilled and motivated PSV Engineer to join our engineering team. This role will involve carrying out maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and inspections across our fleet, helping to maintain the highest standards of vehicle safety, reliability, and performance.

What you'll be doing:

  • Carry out daily vehicle inspections to identify faults, defects, and safety concerns
  • Perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and repairs across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Diagnose and repair faults relating to engines, gearboxes, braking systems, suspension, steering, and associated vehicle components
  • Attend vehicle breakdowns and complete roadside repairs where possible
  • Use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and workshop machinery effectively to identify and resolve issues
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams to support fault finding and repair work
  • Support planned and reactive maintenance activities within the workshop
  • Prepare vehicles for MOTs and other regulatory inspections
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with legal, safety, and Arriva engineering standards
  • Accurately complete maintenance records, inspection sheets, and repair documentation
  • Work collaboratively with engineering and operations teams to minimise vehicle downtime and maintain service reliability
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment

What We’re Looking For:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in PSV or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
  • Previous experience working within a PSV, HGV, or commercial vehicle workshop environment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on heavy vehicles
  • Ability to diagnose faults accurately and carry out repairs efficiently
  • Knowledge of industry safety standards and engineering compliance requirements
  • Experience using workshop tools, machinery, and diagnostic equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Full UK driving licence required; PCV licence desirable or willingness to obtain
  • Flexible approach to shift work, including evenings and weekends where required
  • Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling tasks
