Job Summary

Arriva is looking for a qualified PCV Bus Driver to operate at the Blyth depot from 1 April 2026. The role involves driving public service vehicles, ensuring safe and timely transport for commuters, school children and other passengers, and providing excellent customer service.

Pay & Benefits

  • Weekday pay: £16.00per hour (requires 18months of driving experience)
  • Weekend pay: £16.45per hour (requires 18months of driving experience)
  • Bank holiday bonus: £30 per shift
  • Monthly pay reviews through frequent pay negotiations
  • Initial rate for drivers with under 18months of experience: £14.00per hour for the first 6 months, thereafter £16.00per hour
  • First 6 months on weekday pay at £14.00, then £16.00 thereafter
  • First 6 months on weekend pay at £14.45, then £16.45 thereafter
  • Bank holiday bonus: £30 per shift

Hours of Work

5 out of 7 rotating shift patterns, planned up to 6–8 weeks in advance. Mornings start from 05:00 and evenings finish around 01:30. Overtime available on request and based on availability.

Responsibilities

  • Operate PCV buses safely and reliably on assigned routes
  • Ensure punctual attendance of all passengers, including commuters and school children
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe vehicle
  • Provide courteous customer service and assistance to passengers
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, company procedures and safety regulations
  • Report any incidents, breakdowns or safety concerns promptly
  • Participate in training and development sessions to maintain CPC certification

Requirements

  • Valid PCV licence (non‑negotiable)
  • Licence points no more than 6
  • Positive drug and alcohol test
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, evenings and weekends
