Trainee Bus Driver (Telford depot) – start your bus driving career with Arriva. You will help commuters, children, and shoppers reach their destinations and become a friendly face on the routes.

Pay

£12.71 - £14.45 per hour. Pay scales as follows: during training £12.71, after training £13.36, and after 6 months £14.45. Pay is reviewed through frequent negotiations.

Hours of Work

5 out of 7 rotating shift patterns, planned 6–8 weeks in advance. Mornings start at 05:30 and evenings finish up to 00:10. Rota includes early, middle and late shifts with 1 in 4 weekends off and 1 in 6 weeks with a long weekend (Thursday–Sunday off). Overtime is available on request, based on availability.

Responsibilities

  • Transport passengers safely to their destinations.
  • Assist passengers such as commuters, shoppers and school children.
  • Build relationships with passengers and maintain a friendly presence on the routes.
  • Operate the bus according to the schedule and safety regulations.
  • Accept and complete additional shifts, overtime and bank holiday work at a premium rate.

Requirements

  • Must be over 18 years of age.
  • Have been driving for a minimum of 6 months.
  • No more than 6 points on the licence.
  • Pass a drug and alcohol test.
  • Great people and customer service skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts.

Training & Development

  • Full paid training to obtain a PCV licence through Arriva Training School (approx. 4 weeks). Mentorship support for additional weeks follows.
  • Ongoing CPC training.
  • Career opportunities into management, support training or expert driver roles.
