A Trainee Bus Driver with a starting rate of £14.50 – £20.19 per hour. This role involves driving company buses at our Hemel Hempstead depot, delivering passengers safely to their destinations while building relationships and providing excellent customer service.

Pay:

  • During Training and Mentoring – Basic £14.50 per hour, Overtime £15.70 per hour.
  • After Training & Mentoring – Basic £18.35 per hour, Overtime £20.19 per hour.
  • Pay reviewed annually.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate buses on scheduled routes, ensuring safe and timely journeys.
  • Provide courteous service, assisting passengers with errands, shuttles to shops, and school drop‑offs.
  • Build rapport with regular passengers, becoming a friendly presence on the route.
  • Complete full paid training, including acquisition of a PCV licence and CPC training, and work with a mentor for further development.
  • Adhere to rotation shift patterns: 5 days in 7, mornings from 04:00, afternoons from 12:00, evenings from 18:00.
  • Accept potential overtime on extra shifts, bank holidays, and other premium opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Must be over 18 years of age.
  • Hold a UK driving licence and have at least 6 months of driving experience.
  • No more than 6 points on your licence.
  • Undergo a drug and alcohol test before assessment.
  • Pass an English comprehension test.
  • Demonstrate strong people skills and flexibility for early morning shifts (as early as 04:00) and late night drives (up to 01:00).
