Overview

The Arriva North West & Wales training school are recruiting for a PCV Driving Instructor to join their team in Arriva North West & Wales. The main purpose of the role will be to train provisional license holders on how to pass their Module 3 and Module 4 standard DVSA testing. The role holder will also develop in provisional license holders the soft skills required to safely drive an in-service bus and PCV license holders in Arriva’s expected driving standards.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the day-to-day progress of new employees.
  • Ensuring the safety of trainees, whilst under their supervision.
  • Teaching trainees the technical skills required to drive a bus to DVSA National Standards.
  • Liaise with the training team lead to manage all elements of the activities.
  • Familiarising trainees with the MyDrive system.
  • Coaching trainees in the soft skills that support technical standards.
  • Carrying out Pre-Employment Assessments, driver development training and classroom work where required.
  • Provide development training to support reductions in driving incidents with existing employees.

The Ideal Candidate Will Be An Individual Who

  • Has held a PCV licence for a minimum of 3 years and has a clean driving licence.
  • Has an exceptional incident, My Drive and customer service record.
  • Has a strong understanding of the soft skill elements required to be a comprehensive Bus Driver.
  • Is highly professional, confident and demonstrates an ability to communicate effectively.
  • Possesses an ability to deliver effective, timely and direct feedback, whilst demonstrating a willingness to embrace any feedback received.
  • Demonstrates an ability to empathise with individuals throughout their training journey.
  • Is people orientated and puts learner experience at the centre of everything they do.
  • Demonstrates a flexible approach to tasks and working hours in line with business needs.
  • Has a demonstrable focus on Road Safety.
  • Internal candidates only – have at least 12 months employment with Arriva.
